Our Milk Wash is one of our most popular products. We combine small amounts of 5 different natural cleaners as this can be gentler on skin than one concentrated cleanser. We chose natural cleansers that wash well without drying out the skin. The foaming action isn’t quite as intense as it would if we used a synthetic detergent like SLS (or other common culprits that end in –fate), but we’re happy to make this small trade-off to use more natural ingredients that are healthier for us and the environment. Ever think about what happens to your wash products after they go down the drain? Synthetic ingredients don’t break down into their natural components easily in the water system as natural ones do

We also use a mix of natural skin conditioning ingredients. We don't use any essential oils that can also trigger reactions, but instead, a blend of Vanilla with the allergy-triggering compounds removed. Because it’s so gentle it’s also a no-tears formulation in children's eyes. If you are a car mechanic, you may need something a bit stronger, but if you wish to stay clean without stripping the skin of oils, we think this formula is the bee’s knees. Suitable for all ages, body part and skin types.

NOTE: To keep reducing our plastic use and footprint, our 5 Litre size now come with a screw-top lid instead of a pump. We suggest that you reuse a pump from a past purchase, or you can pour the product to refill other containers.

FAQ

Why don’t we make a face wash?

We get this one a lot. It may seem odd since many companies offer different products to clean your face then to clean your body. But in our opinion, we don’t think it’s needed if you make a good cleanser, and skin just needs to be washed. Face cleansers formulas should be gentle, not remove too much oil and not contain synthetic ingredients that can irritate the eyes. That’s exactly what our Milk Wash is. A regular body cleanser tends to be a bit stronger detergents and remove more oil from the skin. But why should the face get all the love?

We like to keep things simple even if marketing can sometimes tell us otherwise and get us to believe we need a different product for every part of the body. This was is made for your skin so use it whenever you like on your face and body, and hands and feet too, we don’t discriminate.

Are you cleansers safe for lash extensions?

The Milk Wash is great for lash extensions. It has the same irritation score as water and uses a combination of gentle natural cleansers. Oils can break down the glue used, so steer clear of any oil-based cleansers like our Oil Cleansing Method on the eye area whilst you’ve got lashes on.

Is this product made of milk?

We aren’t called MooGoo because our products are based on milk. Fresh milk in a body wash would go off and be smelly. Yuck! We do use Milk Protein in some of our creams and hair care products, and it’s sourced ethically and sustainably from happy and healthy cows raised on a beautiful farm in New Zealand. But this product, in particular, is free from all dairy-based ingredients.

What does "Dermatologically Tested" mean?

You may have seen the term “Dermatologically Tested” on lots of products before, but did you know there’s not an actual definition or regulation for this term? Because that didn’t sit right with us, and because our aim is to make products for people with really sensitive skin, we decided to send a bunch of them off to be tested in an independent lab on 54 people who reported having sensitive skin. The results were given on a scale of 0 to 5 with 0 being no irritation or redness and 5 being a reaction. We’re happy to report that other than one person who had a reaction to the adhesive on the patch and another who found the patches painful to remove, all subjects reported 0 for redness and irritation for all the products we sent for testing. To check out the full report and summary of the test we did on this product, click here.

'Fragrance' is listed as one of the ingredients in this product. What does this mean?

When we first started making products, we used a blend of essentials oils to give them a lovely fragrance. But many people have severe reactions and allergies to them, even in small amounts. As a result, and because we make products for people with sensitive skin, we took them out of most products.  Instead, we helped to develop a special kind of fragrant oil, whereby each component in it is less than the EU allergy threshold. This is how we can have a pleasant-smelling product without the reactions. The scents we use are proprietary blends from the company we get them from, and we’ve had no reactions since we made the switch. Also, of course, it is free from phthalates, which is the main concern in fragrances.
